Trixie B. True Rules!

One day, I was exploring www.esty.com, which is this really fantastic website for creative folk to sell their wares.    They have everything from handmade furniture, to clothing, to jewelry, to purses and wallets.  I'm sure they have more. but these are the areas I frequent most.

Anyway, Scout has been wanting a new wallet, and I came across a seller who makes vintage trailer wallets.  Her etsy page can be found at Trixie B. True.  I got a fun idea in my head - I wondered if this artist could create a custom wallet with a Loretta theme as a present for Scout.

Loretta, The Original

So, I reached out to Trixie B. True and sent her the link to The Adventures of Scout and Bear.  Trixie B. True was more than up for the challenge, and what she created is AWESOME!  She kept me posted on her creative process, and let me be involved in choosing colors and the interior material used.  But the design and the output was totally Trixie's.  We couldn't love the wallet more.  Further, she was fast, the quality and craftsmanship of the wallet is just gorgeous, and while you might think that having something custom designed and made would be expensive, Trixie was incredibly reasonably priced.  In fact, I think she should be more expensive considering how nice this wallet it.

The only thing I am disappointed about is the quality of my photos.  Maybe the new Loretta Wallet sparkles too much that she is too brilliant to be properly photographed, but I tried a few different backgrounds.  I hope you can at least see how beautiful she is, and how truly nice this wallet is.  So nice, in fact, I think I might end up keeping it for myself.  :)

I just want to thank the wonderful artist and person behind Trixie B. True.  For awesome gift ideas - and even better for presents for yourself, check her out and support small businesses and people living their dreams!

Balboa Park and Our Newest Addition

Scout and I have been home for a while now, and when it's back to the grind, I neglect being creative.  I think I also forget that not everyone lives in such a beautiful place, and that people might actually like to see photos of San Diego.  It can be really great here. We try to take a walk through Balboa Park as often as we can.  We live within walking distance, and every time we take that walk we kick ourselves for not doing it more often. Check out these great pictures that Scout took.

So, what's new for us?  Well, besides being really busy with work, we have a new puppy.  Her name is Lola Santa Lucia Perez McElhenny.

Hi!  I'm Lola!

See How Long I Am?

We first saw Lola in Las Cruces, New Mexico when were were headed home from our east coast adventure back in January.  At the time, she was only 2 pounds and hadn't yet been spayed or had her vaccinations.  Because we were from out of state, they wouldn't release her to us until these things had happened (shelter rules), and so we had to leave her behind with just a promise to come back for her when she was ready.  More than a month went by before she weighed enough to be spayed, and before she was well enough to travel.  She had a pretty bad base of kennel cough that she just couldn't kick, and they didn't want her to have her surgery when she was under the weather.  Everything aligned finally, and she was ready to come home with us.

I Will Chew Anything

What a bundle of joy she is! Even Bella seems to enjoy having a baby sister. They play nearly all day long and both are settling into sisterhood quite nicely. We were a bit worried because Bella doesn't make friends very easily. These two are quite a pair though.

Why Do You Keep Pointing That Strange Black Thing At Me?

We are in the throws of puppy training - learning how to walk on the leash, how not to eat shoes, how to let us know it's time to go potty, etc.  All the fun things about having a puppy.  She loves to snuggle though and she smells so good.  It's all worth it.

Here are some pictures of our first month together.  Enjoy!
